The Kenamea Composite Application Suite is a complete solution for the rapid development and deployment of composite applications. The suite includes tools to develop components and rapidly assemble them into composite applications. Kenamea's runtime platform includes data aggregation and connectivity technologies to integrate composite applications into existing enterprise systems, and sophisticated presentation services for dynamic delivery of personalized composite applications.

Rich-client functionality is the capability of a user platform to support event-driven interactivity, real-time monitoring and control, and real-time coordination between application elements. Rich clients allow dramatically better user productivity than traditional Web applications. The problem has been that rich-client has always required software installation on the user's machine – either a special platform (e.g. Java) or heavyweight client applications (e.g. .NET). The resulting deployment and maintenance problems have meant that rich-client applications have been restricted to local, LAN-based users.

The Web browser has evolved into a remarkable platform -- modern Web browsers have all the power and performance necessary to host full rich-client applications. In fact, modern operating systems such as Windows use the browser's HTML and XML engines to implement many native user interface (UI) functions. The challenge for Web applications has been the absence of an event-driven outbound link from server to browser. Because the Web page can only be updated when it is refreshed, Web application UIs have been limited to static request/refresh models.

First, Kenamea's real time messaging technology sets up a bidirectional communications channel between Web page components and a Kenamea server. The Kenamea server supports that communication anywhere Web access is available – without requiring any software to be installed on the user device. Kenamea does not require VPNs, applets or native OS controls – all necessary support is delivered into the browser as standard HTML along with the Web page.

Second, Kenamea combines this messaging technology with a new HTML component architecture that allows browser applications to be rapidly created from assemblies of reusable high-level application elements such as tables, charts, and views, rather than laboriously crafted from low-level code. These components are then ‘event-wired’ – enabling them to send and receive information immediately it is available, rather than only when the page is refreshed.

Third, Kenamea components are ‘event-wired’ – enabling them to send and receive information immediately it is available, rather than only when the page is refreshed.

By combining these innovations, Kenamea composite applications can deliver rich client functionality, including event-driven interactivity, real-time monitoring and control, and real-time coordination between application components, within a standard Web browser. Kenamea composite applications combine the best of two worlds – the zero-client deployment and maintenance simplicity of the Web, yet delivering full rich-client performance and productivity of traditional client/server or rich client applications.
